The time it takes to drop off varies, and it happens much sooner when reading from another SSD, which makes me think the problem might be thermal - but my other SSD drives have never dropped to such low speeds.
Read speeds are fine, and for small writes it's fine, so for certain use cases it might be a great drive - but I'd want to be paying a significantly lower price than for the competition if that's the trade off, and at current prices it does not make sense for me so I returned it and will replace it with a brand that I've had good results with before.

During large write operations the drive slows down to a crawl, reaching as low as 5MB/s, making it significantly slower than writing to an HDD or an SD card.
